That's how long it took me to get back into a state of ketosis after my 1.5 days of carb-loading. My carb-load usually starts Friday nights, ends Saturday nights, & I’m surprisingly back in keto by Sunday. I guess it makes sense because I'm carb-loading with only paleo foods, which aren't that high in carbs to begin with.
My carb-loads include: fruit, paleo cookies, paleo brownies, dark chocolate, fruit/nut bars & more recently experimenting with pancakes made with bananas & eggs (yes, just 2 ingredients!)
It's hard to do a lot of damage with that; I seem to be using up the replenished glucose pretty quickly & dive back into ketosis, which for my personal goals, is good.
I have not tracked my macros on myfitnesspal these last few weeks since I have a really good handle of what it looks like from the very 1st week I was super strict, on track, & adamant about recording every single thing I ate (see last post). I've also been checking periodically with ketostix, & I've been spot on, never throwing myself out of ketosis unless on carb-loads. Excellent.
Physically, I’m not sure if I’m seeing the quick results I thought I would... yet! I feel great, have a lot of energy, my workouts are awesome, not to mention I REALLY enjoy eating all this fat :-D (who wouldn't?). I’m also working out harder & lifting heavier, so any progress may be in result of that rather than keto - hard to tell - possibly too soon to tell. I've read that it can take 4-8 weeks for your body to be fully keto-adapted, so I'm going to give it more time.
Maybe (hopefully) my results are just around the corner! Plus, I feel great, so no reason to really stop just yet.
I’m also proud to say I keep improving every week with my fat-intake! I'm getting more creative with increasing my intake of grass-fed butter, blending butter into my own homemade hot cacao (will post recipe soon), switching to 75/25 lean grass-fed ground beef instead of the 85/15 I used to buy, & also purchasing 4 lbs of beef fat (felt like it was my chance)! At first I had NO idea what to do with it… but now I cook my eggs or caramelize onions in it. WOW is the only word I can use that fits!
Always looking forward to the next best thing - bigger, better, greater results - that much closer to achieving optimal health!
Check back within the next few days for a basic Paleo challenge for those beginners that need the baby steps (while I stick through keto for another month).
