Depriving yourself of not only carbs as a source of energy but also fat (low-carb, low-fat diets) which many are trying to follow, is what kills organ-function... I say "try" because this is in no way sustainable. It’s the reason why so many Americans are unhealthy & unhappy; they are being recommended these low-fat diets, & working out like crazy just beating their bodies down.
I want to inform others by spreading awareness with observable proof to make people open their eyes. I’m LOSING body fat by eating TONS of fat. Fat does NOT make you fat. It’s so important for people to start hearing this message.
Fat is very satiating, improves your ability to access stored body fat rather than your muscles while working out, not to mention it's DELICIOUS!

By eating fat & trying this ketogenic approach, my goal is to achieve greater health, greater energy, & greater definition (via losing body fat).
My Keto-challenge started on Monday (1/6/14) & am now a little over a week in. I feel absolutely great!
- Energy levels are definitely up
- My brain feels well-fed, powered, & alert
- More bowl movements (which has always been an issue for me)
- Skin is glowing (it’s winter & I’m usually BEYOND dry to the point of peeling, but I’ve been nothing but glow!)
- Body feels solid (less squishy)
… One week in; I feel amazing & have the notion that I’m going to see major results from this!
I used the MyFitnessPal app to record my food intake for the day to make sure I was reaching my macros:
25g Net Carbs
21g Net Carbs
28g Net Carbs
38g Net Carbs
( I know I overdid it a little this day )
34g Net Carbs
* Pie charts show Total Carbs instead of Net Carbs.
On Day 4, I tested with ketostix for the first time, & showed traces of ketones!! At first, I wasn’t sure if it was too early to be in ketosis, but was so impatient to find out! My experimentation has officially started, & I’m hungry for more.
After more research, I found that you're either in ketosis or you're not, no matter what color you produce; a darker color doesn’t necessarily mean better, it just means there is a higher concentration of ketones & perhaps my body is retaining water. A lighter color is actually ideal, so I drank more water on day 5 & turned my dark purple (80) results to a lighter shade (40).

I worked out HARD Sunday with max weight & all-out sprints. I felt good, & have never felt I lacked energy throughout the entire week of working out.
I’m currently out of ketosis after my 1.5 days of carb-loading, & am now curious to see how long it takes my body to get back into keto again. I’ll definitely keep you posted!
