… to find my benchmark, that is. My 1steasy AMRAP would’ve been inaccurate to gauge improvements off of. I knew I needed to adjust something… but what? If you are not on the same path as Anthony, like me, you may also have to experiment first to better compare subsequent attempts.
I decided to up my squats by 2, pull-ups & push-ups each by 1, & mountain climbers by 2.
Timer set, and GO! I rush through these 8 sets pretty quickly… too quickly! I see 30 seconds remaining, but instead of pushing through any more, I collapse & say screw it. I catch my breath while waiting for the timer to go off. This definitely wore me out, & I definitely felt more of a workout; clearly upping my reps helped and left me pooped… haha. (Yes, I have the humor of a 5-year-old boy).
Later discussing & demonstrating the exercises, Anthony modified a few things for me so I could get the FULL EXPERIENCE, which … I wasn’t getting yet??
Apparently I should have just done my first AMRAP with him; I could’ve saved myself all this trouble (Anthony, I’m not saying “you were right” again, so don’t wait for it).
So… turns out I need more of a full range of motion with my push-ups since I wasn’t going all the way down… which means I have to resort to girl-push-ups now L . Okay, fine… here it goes…
L: "You were right..."
Pull-ups: assist with a small stool instead of a chair; push off with 1 leg instead of 2
Push-ups: girl push-ups (kneeling push-ups) instead of… well... man push-ups…
Everything else remained constant.
What a difference! I definitely took longer with my pull-ups, which decreased total sets, and weakened me for the other exercises. But it felt good - made my girl-push-ups right after that much harder! The 4th round was when I felt a rush of energy radiating through my body, then slowly diminish as each set going forward became more and more challenging. Woowwwie! I definitely felt the burn on that one and expect to be sore within the next day or 2.
… THAT’s more like it!
7.5 rounds this time! Wooo! I’m finally improving and back on the Anthony path! I was a little slow to start, but now that I have a good benchmark, I got this!
The endorphin rush is awesome, I feel my blood pumping & heart racing all through the 15-minutes. Not only that, but I’m feeling stronger & physically seeing more definition! THIS. IS. AWESOME.
2 weeks left!
